AT THE BOAT SHOW

At the boat show I happened to be

Glass boats all look strange to me.

No character there

same old atmosphere

I would be unhappy to use one at sea.

Aluminium boats, huge stocks on display

corrosion prone I always say.

They're made in great haste

no paint, now that's bad taste,

new brand names appear each day.

Where are the real boats we knew?

I have sailed them and, crewed on a. few.

No Stainless or Chrome,

you could build one at home,

and use them right out in the blue.

I almost gave up looking for good

when I found a beautiful boat built of wood.

It was hand crafted and rare,

and built with great care.

It stood out from the rest, as it should.
