Powerline pollutants a hazard

RADICAL new evidence has emerged linking powerlines with cancer, despite years of inconclusive research and recent studies which have suggested otherwise.

Two new British studies have focused less on electromagnetic radiation and more on the possibility pollutants around powerlines may be responsible for increased risk of disease.

University of Bristol chief researcher Professor Denis Henshaw said the study involved using detectors to measure pollutants and laboratory tests on the levels of pollutants which may be harmful.

Researchers found evidence which suggests there may be increased absorption of pollutants on the skin of people living below the powerlines.
