Power line project concern

RIVERMOUTH Action Group has raised concerns over runoff at Inala from an Energex underground power line initiative.

The Energex project forms part of the urban renewal plan at Inala and is a trial for similar projects across Brisbane.

The project involves boring through soil and rock to install underground electrical cables.

It is this excavated soil that RAG spokesman Barry Wilson is concerned about.

Mr Wilson was alerted to the situation via an anonymous letter from an Inala resident.

Streets affected by the runoff include Balsa, Abelia and Lavender.

Mr Wilson visited the site last Monday and recorded footage of the runoff which he published on the environment group's Web page.

Online Directional Drillers - the company contracted to Energex for the project - spokesman Ross Smith said he could not comment until an environment management plan was finalised.

"We are currently involved with an environment management plan internally and are reviewing the situation with Energex," Mr Smith said.

"Once the consultative process is complete we will be able to comment."
