Parker Island (1) completely dredged away. Gibson Island (2) had a low tide access (when I was a young child then it was then subjected to fill and Bulimba B power station Incitec Fertiliser and the BCC sewerage treatment plant were built) and the 3rd Island (3) became a dredge dumping grounds and subsequently no longer an island and it was the site of the wharf from where whale oil was stored and shipped. The wharf was built during WW II to refuel US ships and later for re-shipping of whale oil.

As a child this area (3) was always referred to as 'The Island'. It was not until I saw the map above when I was about 40 years old I understood why.
