Towering headache

The current protests about a local Optus mobile phone tower having been built before an objection period expired are interesting to a self-confessed cellphone 'junkie' like me.

Nobody wants one of those ugly looking contraption near their property, with possible health effects and even a potential danger to near-flying fruit bats being cited in emotive pleas to ban the structure.

It's interesting to note though that, despite such dilemmas, Australians have taken to cellphones with a vengeance. Our per head of population ownership and usage of these appliances is very close to (if not the) highest in the world.

This leaves the service providers with a towering headache - how to effective please the needs of their millions of clients. After all, they have to put up towers to deliver 'the goods'.

Sounds a bit like 'Catch 22' to me!
