Our Say

Precious bush oasis

CAPALABA people have been told that 75 per cent of a 1.5ha bushland site in the heart of town is "severely degraded" and therefore is a prime target for the developer's bulldozers (see story page 1).

The remaining 25 per cent - a recognised wetland area - will be saved but only to co-exist with an industrial and showroom development on the larger portion of the site. Residents who have observed tiny birds nestling among native grasses on the site along with a host of other native fauna and flora believe the area is too precious to be smothered by an industrial development.

Given this precious bushland oasis is in the heart of an urban area it should be more than well worth saving for future generations.
