Any Problems?

  • Where will all the removed fill be placed?
  • Into which Flood Plain?
  • Into which Wetland area (sorry Swamp)?

  • How much sediment load will end up in the Brisbane River, Norman Creek and Breakfast Creek?
  • As every truck load of rock, soil, mud etc. is removed from the two tunnel ends there will be deposits on the road and spillage along the many roads to various dump sites.
  • As the tunnel is continually pumped to empty it as seepage flows in from the Brisbane River etc.

  • Where will the large exhaust stacks be placed to ventilate the tunnels?
  • Will the exhaust gas be treated?
  • How many of Brisbane's public hospitals such as Brisbane Royal and the Mater will be in a direct line to suck in the exhaust stack's emissions into their air conditioning units depending in wind direction?
  • What is more important which and how many nursing homes, schools, child care facilities or high rise tenements buildings will suffer this fate?
  • If so, who can afford this huge ongoing expense to treat the exhaust emissions?
  • Has Queensland enough electricity to power all the fans, lights and electrostatic precipitators, pumps etc associated with this proposal?
  • Just how much will the toll be to pay just for the electricity and maintance of this equipment?
  • Just how often would the tunnel manager actually turn on the filtering equipment that might effect his bonuses at the end of the year?

They can't afford to in New South Wales!

  • Are there any Health Problems?
  • Cancer Risks?
  • Health Effects on Children
  • Do we want to inherit the same problems as Sydney?
  • Have there been any problems with Sydney's M5 underground freeway?
